Today the Bargello is a museum that houses the most remarkable collection of sculptures of the Florentine Renaissance.
But once it was a prison in Florence, it tells us medieval stories.
In the large room on the ground floor are exposed the statues of Michelangelo and the sculptors of the court of the Medici, from Benvenuto Cellini, to Giambologna.
The walls of the courtyard are covered by dozens of shields of the city. Going up the solid and imposing staircase of the courtyard you get to the hall dedicated to the fifteenth-century sculpture, whose protagonist is Donatello.
