The history of the Medici Chapels is closely linked to that of the church of San Lorenzo, to which they belong. The museum, which is accessed from the apse of the basilica, consists of the crypt, where the Medici Grand Dukes and their families are buried, the monumental mausoleum of the Princes, the Michelangelo New Sacristy.
